Eligibility Criteria - Open to both undergraduate and graduate students. - Applicants must be refugees as defined by the Canadian Government who arrived in Canada within the last 6 years or less, as verified by the Award Committee. - Must be admitted to their first year of a program at the University of Saskatchewan. - Must have the ability to travel to or return to Saskatoon to study. - Must submit a statement explaining how the bursary will empower them to complete their degree and achieve their educational goals. - Must demonstrate either: - Sufficient English proficiency to enter an academic program directly, OR - Potential to succeed in English after no more than two terms in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program at the Language Centre. Scholarship Value and Number Offered - Value: $10,000 (one-time award) - Number of awards: 10 Selection Criteria - Selection is based on the merit of the applicant’s submitted statement, as determined by the awards committee. Selection Priorities - High Priority Pathway: Applicants who apply directly to an academic program and meet English proficiency requirements. - Low Priority Pathway: Applicants who apply through the joint EAP application and require at most two terms of EAP to meet English proficiency.
