Finance is the science of funds management, with a focus on saving, lending, and investing money. The field of finance deals with the concepts of time, money, and risk, and how they are interrelated. The Finance major is well positioned to provide students with specialized financial knowledge and the necessary management skills to be competent financial managers. Learn how people should invest their money and how companies will perform in the future based on the past. Finance students will understand the areas of finance theory, corporate, securities, risk, insurance, venture capital, planning, modeling, investments and portfolio management. Trained to compete and succeed in the financial marketplace. The Bachelor of Commerce degree is a four year program offered by the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business. All undergraduate students admitted to the Edwards School of Business are required to complete a common first-year of studies. In January of the second year, student's apply to a specialization in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing or Supply Chain Management. Edwards students pursuing a finance major are well positioned on the path to obtaining the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world. University of Saskatchewan's Bachelor of Commerce is recognized as part of the CFA Institute University Recognition Program.
