Loughborough University's Master of Science in Strength and Conditioning provides the knowledge, skills and experience to develop athletes across the spectrum of athletic achievement, from participation to high performance. The programme provides bespoke research-informed modules to develop students' knowledge of all topics relevant to strength and conditioning. The programme capitalizes on the school's sporting strengths to enable the provision of hands-on coaching experience, designed to give students the tools to develop athletic performance at the highest level. The programme culminates in a substantial independent research project, allowing students to apply the knowledge and techniques that they have learned to answer a scientific question relevant to strength and conditioning that will further develop their understanding. Previous students have undertaken projects investigating: neural and morphological factors that contribute towards strength tasks and sports performance; the use of strength training to enhance factors that underpin endurance performance; the effects of single-limb resistance training on the magnitude of inter-limb transfer of strength; the physiological bases of task failure during exercise testing and muscular endurance performance; and the use of blood flow restriction in rehabilitation and performance.
