Algoma University - Brampton campus

Established in 1965, Algoma University is proud of their unique ways and it’s this drive that makes Algoma the right place for students, their future, their mark. Students are looking for a university that understands them. A place that will leverage their career intentions and be their partner along the way. A university where faculty are ready to share their knowledge and convictions and direct students on the right course, and where graduates have carved a path to follow. From it's student-centered approach to learning, to one-on-one interactions with faculty, to the endless opportunities to get involved on- and off-campus. At Algoma, students have the opportunity to leave their mark on campus and make a difference in their community. This is an exciting period for both the City of Brampton and for Algoma University as they work in partnership, along with other stakeholders, to expand post-secondary options for the citizens of Brampton and the International community. To respond to the growing needs of the City of Brampton, Algoma University is proposing to expand its academic offerings by creating a Centre for Social, Cultural & Economic Innovation in the heart of downtown Brampton. By Fall 2020, in addition to its School of Business & Economics, Algoma University will offer programs, degrees and certificates in Computer Science, Psychology, and Community Economic and Social Development, with additional, new programs to follow in 2023. Students at Algoma University’s Centre for Social, Cultural & Economic Innovation will obtain an education that prepares them to make significant contributions to the Brampton community and beyond. Why Algoma University - Brampton Student-centric: Classes are kept small to provide students with more opportunities to participate, ask questions, and receive quality feedback from caring professors. Algoma's professors are always available for help and have an open door policy, plus they will get to know their student's names and dreams and help in every step in reaching them. Further, learning goes beyond the classroom. Faculty believes in providing students with as many hands-on learning opportunities as possible to take what students have learned in the classroom and apply it to real life work situations. Professors prepare students for life after school. Campus life: Be a student leader, join a club, compete on a varsity team, or work alongside faculty on cutting edge research. The opportunities really are endless to get involved at Algoma. Students will meet new friends and these experiences will help build up their resume. Plus, their leadership and volunteerism on- and off-campus are recognized on the Co-Curricular Record. Academics: The School of Business & Economics at Algoma University provides academic programming, in both Sault Ste. Marie and Brampton, that is relevant to the evolving economy and experiential learning opportunities inside and outside the classroom that will help students grow and find their place as a future business leader. Location: Algoma University’s campus lies in the heart of historic downtown Brampton. Within steps away, the downtown offers access to city and regional transit, and is home to over 1500 businesses and services. Enjoy great restaurants, shops, arts, entertainment, parks and culture. Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) - Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School campus
Public

Holy Cross opened its doors in September of 1986 in quarters leased from the Frontenac County Board of Education. Holy Cross also held classes in a part of Kingston Collegiate, which graciously agreed to share its facility with the new school. Holy Cross began with approximately 17 teachers and 235 students. During the next four years, staff and students alike pulled together to create a school community in a less-than-ideal physical facility. The curriculum encompassed all subject areas, including music and drama. A full array of sports and extracurricular activities was offered by the dedicated staff. The school continued to grow, adding Grade 11, Grade 12 and OAC courses as the students advanced in their high school careers. Numbers were becoming problematic for the 1987-1988 school year in the shared facility and in September 1990 a new multi-million dollar facility opened its doors with 51 educators and 825 students. Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School is committed to providing quality Catholic Education which serves the academic, social, physical, and spiritual development of students. As a Catholic community, the ideals of Jesus are both taught and witnessed, community members are respectful and appreciative of each other's gifts and challenged to live the Christian ideal. As a community Holy Cross embodies "faith in action"; uphold the value of family; stress the integration of the spiritual, intellectual, and moral development of the total person, and; emphasize Gospel values. In short, it will provide students with the opportunity to meet the Catholic Graduate Expectations. Holy Cross is well known for its successes in academics and the arts. Holy Cross prides itself on its commitment to service. Students have received many awards and citations for academic success. The award plaques mounted in the gymnasium attest to the success of the Holy Cross sports teams. Holy Cross students and staff are proud of their accomplishments and school. The slogan, "Once a Crusader, Always a Crusader" rings true for every graduate from Holy Cross. Why Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School? Course variety: Holy Cross students have an opportunity to take traditional subjects, but can also challenge themselves in the arts or technology. It offers Co-operative Education, as well as Specialist High Skills Majors in Information & Communications Technology and Environment. A student enrolled in the Dual Credit Program spends some of their academic time at St. Lawrence College taking college or apprenticeship courses and the rest of their academic time at Holy Cross taking regular high school courses and/or Coop courses. Extracurricular activities: Holy Cross offers many extracurricular activities including band, drama club, Students' Council, and a community service group, just to name a few. Sports teams include Cross Country, Golf, Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Alpine Skiing, Badminton, Hockey, Cheer, Curling, Swimming, Wrestling, Baseball, Rugby, Soccer, Field Lacrosse, Tennis, and Track and Field.

Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB) - Nicholson Catholic College campus
Public

Nicholson Catholic College was originally built as a private secondary school to educate the children of the Catholic community in Belleville and the surrounding area. Nicholson was named in honour of Monsignor J. F. Nicholson, the pastor of St. Michael's Parish, whose help and guidance was instrumental in making the dream become a reality. The school is now a publicly funded secondary school in the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. The origins of the school can be clearly seen in the strength of the school community. There is a special appreciation for the religious community of the Sisters of Providence and the many sisters who staffed the school from the beginning. While the school welcomes all students who wish to register, regardless of their religious affiliation, the majority of students are still drawn from the Catholic community. Students attend a course in religion each year. Parents choose to have their children attend Nicholson Catholic College because of its tradition of academic excellence and for the Christian values that permeate the entire curriculum and the ethos of the school. Nicholson Catholic College is proud to be a part of the legacy of excellence in service, scholastics, stewardship, and sportsmanship which has characterized Nicholson from the very beginning. Its mandate in this Catholic community is to behave in a manner that reflects gospel values and which influences others to do the same. “Quis Ut Deus”, Who is like unto God, is the school motto and it reminds students to strive in humility and to use their gifts to the fullest in the service of God’s will. Students will support each other, grow as individuals and as a community, and take time to celebrate their achievements throughout the school year. Why Nicholson Catholic College? Course Variety: Nicholson offers courses that allow students to complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, including Extended French and Co-operative Education. It hosts the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma program and has three Specialist High Skills Majors in Health & Wellness, Information & Communications Technology, and Transportation. Extracurricular Activities: Every student at Nicholson Catholic College is strongly encouraged to become involved. There is something for everyone. Come out, share talents, and explore new interests and friendships!
