Comox Valley School District 71 (CVSD71) - Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School

Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School is named after Canadian Forces Master Corporal Mark Robert Isfeld who was killed while conducting de-mining operations near Kakma, Croatia on June 21, 1994. It is centrally located in east Courtenay amongst suburban houses and the Crowne Isle Golf Resort community. North Island College and the Comox Valley Aquatic Center is a short walk from campus. The student population fluctuates from 900 to 1100 from grades 8 to 12. Formerly a middle school, Mark Isfeld has developed into a thriving high school with academic and extracurricular opportunities for all types of students. All academic courses leading to a BC graduation certificate are offered at Mark Isfeld. Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School is an innovative learning community founded on respect and supporting student excellence through academics, citizenship, the arts, and athletics. Why Mark R. Isfeld Secondary School Course variety: Mark R. Isfeld offers the District's French Immersion Program, and offers Fitness Trainer Certification. The school runs on a linear schedule for grades 8-9 and a semester schedule for grades 10-12. Extracurricular activities: Mark R. Isfeld has a number of ways for students to get involved. Clubs and activities include Dungeons & Dragons, Minecraft, Dr. Who, GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance), Environment Club, Interact Club, Magic Club, Peer Leaders, and Yoga. Mark R. Isfeld is proud to offer a comprehensive athletic program which offers opportunities for all students in grades 8 through 12 to participate in athletics in the sports of Volleyball, Field Hockey, Soccer, Aquatics, X-Country Running, Football, Basketball, Wrestling, Track and Field, Golf, Curling, Gymnastics, Skiing, and Snowboarding.
