Founded in 1925, Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is a comprehensive regional public higher education institution offering liberal arts, professional, and technical programs. CMU offers a wide variety of majors, (100+) in 13 academic departments, small class size and study abroad opportunities. More than 10,000 undergraduate students from 42 countries are enrolled at CMU. Located in the city of Grand Junction Colorado, the campus sits between the mountains and high desert canyons and provides students with opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation. CMU is a NCAA Division II school offering a variety of men’s and women’s athletics teams as well as intermural and club sports. Student Life supports more than 120 clubs and organizations to enrich the college experience. Public transportation is available to the downtown area for students looking for off campus activities. Scholarships are available to international students who qualify and awarded at time of admission. Why Colorado Mesa University Location : Located in Grand Junction, a small, safe city in the beautiful high-desert of western Colorado, CMU is surrounded by areas that provide unparalleled opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation. Community Involvement : Choices for campus involvement are plentiful. The Programming Activities Council offers free university-wide events. The Outdoor Program plans numerous outdoor trips and provides the gear, transportation and planning. The International Student Alliance, one of CMU’s 150+ clubs and organizations, is here to help you network and develop friendships and a sense of belonging. Experiential Learning : F1 international students are eligible to work off campus in their field of study following completion of one full year of studies. Scholarships : CMU offers a merit scholarship to high-achieving international students with a 3.0 U.S.-equivalent secondary grade point average (GPA) or a 2.5 university transfer GPA. The scholarship is valued at $9,000 per year and is renewable. An additional $1,000 is available to current international students at CMU with a 3.75 or higher GPA after 30 credit hours. Athletics and Intramurals : Admission to all CMU NCAA athletic events is free for students with their student ID. In addition to the 28 varsity teams, CMU has 20 club programs and 13 intramural leagues that any student is welcome to join.
