The Bachelor of Science program with a Major in Molecular Biology and Genetics is a broadly based program in genetics including related areas of cell and molecular biology. Students can choose a general program or can focus their courses in areas such as molecular biology, cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, or agricultural genetics. Explore genomes and the genetics of microorganisms, plants and animals, and the structure and function of cells. Discover how significant advances in molecular and cellular biology can be applied to gene therapy, genetic testing, biopharmaceuticals and crop production. Participate in research projects with professors to gain additional hands-on training for a career in this exciting field. The program qualifies students for postgraduate training in cell or molecular biology and genetics including clinical genetics and genetic counselling, and provides an excellent background for careers in biotechnology, toxicology, agriculture and medical research.
