Explore hands-on learning in Manufacturing Technology at Ohio Northern University. Prepare for careers in robotics and automation. Apply now!
Program Description As manufacturing technology majors, students can choose to concentrate their studies on robotics or management. Both concentrations include courses in robotics, manufacturing, computers, science and math. The program also emphasizes hands-on learning. Students will spend a lot of time designing, experimenting and fabricating in the labs. And they'll tackle projects for real clients. These experiences will teach them how to work on teams, communicate effectively, problem-solve and think critically. With these skills under their belt, students will be in demand in the workforce. Large institutions just can’t provide the individualized attention and opportunity students will find at ONU. The manufacturing technology students build robots and design software solutions. They assist professors with research, participate in national competitions and can co-op at leading manufacturing companies. They star on sports teams and lead student organizations. The applied robotics concentration is designed for students who are interested in delving deeper into the field of robotics. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, students will spend time designing, fabricating and experimenting in labs. Students are immersed in programming, simulation and automation while obtaining foundational knowledge in industry 4.0. Courses include: Parametric Modeling; Engineering Statics and Strength of Materials; Physics; Calculus; Robotics; Automated Systems; and Digital Manufacturing and Simulation. Upon graduation, students will be prepared for careers as robotics engineers, robotics programmers, simulation engineers, robotics integrators and CAD/CAM programmers.
