Lakeland College - Lloydminster campus
PublicDLI O18777577472

There were only 34 students when Lakeland College opened in 1913. Today the College has two campuses and over 7,000 full- and part-time students––but Lakeland is as tight-knit as ever. The classes are small, so instructors get to know their students––not just their names but also their wants, needs, hopes, and fears. They can sense when to challenge each student and when to cut them some slack. If students have questions or concerns, the door’s always open. Same goes for all the student services that are offered––from financial aid to peer tutoring, counselling to recreation. Lakeland’s comfortable setting allows its students to focus on learning. Lakeland's award-winning programs are designed for an easy transition into the work force and/or further study, whether it be at Lakeland or somewhere else. Students will get a university-caliber education at Lakeland College––but without the red tape, the big crowds and the distractions. Opened in 1990, the Lloydminster campus has a modern, urban sensibility. But everything is housed under one roof, creating a distinct sense of community togetherness. Students keep running into the same people––in the classrooms, the weight room, the library, the Vic Juba Community Theatre––and before long everybody knows each other. It's like a big family. And like most families, it's getting bigger. The Bill Kondro wing, opened Sept. 2008, features a student lounge equipped with plasma TVs, a state-of-the-art computer lab and a high-tech demonstration site for the nursing school. Speaking of high tech, the Energy Centre is one of the best equipped and modern steam labs in Canada. Officially opened in 2015, it's home to heavy oil and power engineering training. Why Lakeland College - Lloydminster Student Ranking: In 2017, over 40,000 students and alumni were surveyed and asked to rank their college or university in 55 different categories. Out of 63 colleges across Canada, Lakeland College is honoured to be recognized as one of the top performing institutions in all of Canada, including 1st in colleges most recommended by students. Campus life: Living on campus is an exciting opportunity to learn, grow and get the most of Lakeland college. Lakeland grads often mention that they learned as much living in residence as they did in the classroom––and had more fun doing it. Living on campus gave them: lifelong friendships, a rewarding sense of community, and some invaluable survival skills. Location: Big city amenities with a small town heart, the City of Lloydminster has a population of 25,000. At the centre of heavy oil production, Lloydminster is also a regional hub for people in eastern Alberta and western Saskatchewan.

Lakeland College - Vermilion campus

Lakeland's award-winning programs are designed for an easy transition into the work force and/or further study, whether it be at Lakeland or somewhere else. Students will get a university-caliber education at Lakeland College –– but without the red tape, the big crowds and the distractions. Lakeland College began in 1913 as the Vermilion School of Agriculture, and it still has a countryside feel: green lawns, mature trees, and as much sky as one could want. A lot of the learning at Vermilion takes place outdoors––on the college farm, the Emergency Training Centre's training grounds, or the environmental science programs field labs. But times have changed since 1913, and so has Lakeland's campus at Vermilion. Today, the campus's modern classrooms and computer labs support coursework in more than eight disciplines, including award-winning programs in interior design, trades and early learning and child care. Enrolment at Vermilion numbers nearly 2,000 today, with more than 500 of those students living on campus, a few minutes' walk from the classrooms. It's the more rural of Lakeland's two campuses––offering a true small-town college experience. Why Lakeland College - Vermilion Student Ranking: In 2017, over 40,000 students and alumni were surveyed and asked to rank their college or university in 55 different categories. Out of 63 colleges across Canada, Lakeland College is honoured to be recognized as one of the top performing institutions in all of Canada, including 1st in colleges most recommended by students. Laurentian University was once only a regional school serving Sudbury, and while it still serves the area well, it has grown into an international leader in niches such as stressed watershed systems, rural and Northern children’s health, particle astrophysics, as well as mining, engineering, and environmental remediation. Laurentian University offers more than 175 undergraduate and graduate programs, and as it is a bilingual institution, 800 course sections are offered in French. Located on a 765-acre campus, the university is surrounded by five lakes, a boreal forest and nature trails. Why Laurentian University Unique Signature Programs: With more than 175 degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and flexible degree options, Laurentian University offers a comprehensive range of high-calibre programs. Our programs in architecture, forensic science, sports administration, midwifery, human kinetics, Indigenous studies and many others provide unique learning experiences and diverse career opportunities for graduates. 18:1 Student/Professor Ratio: Small class-sizes promote interaction among students and professors, creating positive group dynamics, and giving students greater access to labs, and more one-on-one conversations. It’s a personal approach to university education and it works. Approachable, accessible faculty and crucial support programs offered through the Centre for Academic Excellence, ensure each student is on the road to academic success. 95% Post-Graduation Employment Rate: With the highest post-graduation employment rate of all universities in Ontario – 95% – Laurentian University represents a sound investment in your future.
