Sherwood Secondary School is located on the East end of Hamilton Mountain. The school is the center of the Sherwood Heights Community. The school has a long-standing tradition of offering excellent educational programs supported by wonderful co-curricular clubs, sports and teams. Sherwood offers a broad spectrum of educational programs, which includes one system level Developmentally Delayed classrooms and both Junior & Senior Graduated Support programs which prepare higher functioning Special Needs students for the greatest level of independent living after completing their secondary school experience. It also has the full spectrum of provincial curriculum from Locally Developed Compulsory Credits through University entrance courses. Sherwood has a strong connection with our community. Over 300 students participate in our Co-operative Education Program. Sherwood Secondary is also involved in several System Level Programs for Students in the HWDSB. Its staff have developed and implemented programs in Health Care at the Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation and excellent Athletic programs including focus courses in our Hockey Canada Skills Academy, soccer, basketball and volleyball. Why Sherwood Secondary School Student supports: Sherwood offers student success support services such as co-operative education opportunities, credit recovery, and alternative education. Course variety: Sherwood offers specialized programs such as basketball and volleyball, environmental science, languages, dance, ceramic, and communications. It also has Specialist High Skills Majors in Arts & Culture, Construction, Health & Wellness, and Transportation. Extracurricular activities: There are many ways to get involved at Sherwood! It has numerous clubs such as math society, social justice club, arts and drama club, student council, and stage crew, as well as before and after school programs including basketball, hockey, track and field, soccer, music night, coffee house, and art night.
