Program Description Master of Science in Counseling — There are four different specializations—Career, College, Gerontological, and School Counseling. School counseling students are eligible for the State of California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with a specialization in School Counseling (PK-12). Students who wish to be endorsed by the department as meeting the education requirements for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license in California in addition to their specialization must complete an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. The scope of this degree allows students the flexibility to focus their attention on specific areas of interest. The student combines the core sequence of classes with their specialization or emphasis. Counselors will be able to function in a wide variety of community agencies and work with individuals of all ages. The curriculum meets most of the educational requirements to be eligible for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license.
