The MSc by Research in Experimental Physics offers students the opportunity to engage in a year-long individual research program that is both personally and professionally rewarding. The research project in experimental physics is guided by participation in activities such as seminars, workshops, laboratory work, and field research, as well as involvement in one of Swansea's established research groups. Although the research program typically lasts for a year, it can serve as a pathway to the second year of a PhD program under certain circumstances. Swansea University is home to three primary research groups. The Atomic, Molecular and Quantum Physics Group (AMQP) receives funding from various sources including EPSRC, the EU, The Royal Society, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales, and industrial and government sources. Research areas within the AMQP group include analytical laser spectroscopy, ultrafast dynamics, imaging and microscopy, optomechanics, antihydrogen, positronium, and positrons, cold atom physics, and nano-scale physics in the life sciences.
