International direct admission to Louisiana State University (LSU) is available for international students with advanced English-language skills. The program focuses on academic, cultural, and professional growth to help students excel in school and prepare for a successful future. As international direct students at Louisiana State University, individuals will receive exclusive and rigorous academic coursework, priority access to in-demand courses aligned with their interests, guidance from academic advisors and mentors, career development opportunities, and the chance to participate in intensive classes with domestic students. The Louisiana State University Computer Science undergraduate program, offered through the College of Engineering, provides students with a variety of opportunities to take courses in core and applied areas of computer science, as well as engage in research, summer internships, and co-ops. Students can choose from four concentrations: Software Engineering (SE), Cloud Computing and Networking (CCN), Data Science and Analytics (DSA), or Computer Science and Second Discipline. Upon graduation, students will demonstrate their ability to apply knowledge of computing and mathematics, analyze and define computing requirements, design and evaluate computer-based systems, work effectively in teams, understand professional and ethical responsibilities, communicate effectively, analyze the impact of computing on society, engage in professional development, use current techniques and tools, apply mathematical foundations and algorithmic principles, and apply design and development principles in software construction. The Data Science and Analytics concentration incorporates techniques and theories from various areas to extract actionable intelligence from large datasets. Data scientists are employed by companies and organizations for purposes such as identifying consumer trends, improving efficiency, and analyzing probabilities in various fields.
