Program Description In grade 12, students explore the arts, Canadian and world studies, classical studies, computer studies, international languages, health and physical education, interdisciplinary studies, mathematics, native languages, native studies, the sciences (biology, chemistry, earth and space science, environmental science, and physics), social sciences and humanities, and technological education. Course Selection Students enrolling in Grade 12 who need specific courses in order to finish their high school courses, should indicate these courses on their application form. The following courses are offered for Grade 12: ESL Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology History/Sociology: World Issues, Social Sciences English: English, Writer's Craft Languages: Mandarin, Korean Management/Accounting: Accounting, Economics, International Business, Business Leadership Technology: Communication Technology, Programming Mathematics: Advanced Functions, Calculus & Vectors, Data Management Media Studies: Visual Arts, Dramatic Arts, Media Arts, Music, Photography Students interested in attending college or university in one of the following departments, are encouraged to follow the stream program. UIS breaks down the necessary courses and makes strong recommendations for courses to meet the admission requirements for the University program of their choice. Engineering stream Science & Math stream Business stream Art stream ESL Support Urban International School has an ESL program which includes 5 levels: ESLAO, ESLBO, ESLCO, ESLDO, and ESLEO. Each level is 10 weeks long. Students are required to take an English placement test and are placed in one of the ESL levels, if required. Please note that if a student is placed in the ESLAO, ESLBO, or ESLCO level, they are unable to take any other high school credit courses because of the challenge associated. They cannot take high school credit until they have reached the ESLDO level. Students who are placed in ESLDO or ESLEO may take one or two other courses at the same time. The cost of ESL is $3,360 per level.
