Catalog description
Join the Extended Plus International Pathway Program at UHart! Strengthen your English skills while preparing for a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences.
Program Description The combined Bachelor of Science/Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (BS/DPM) program between the University of Hartford and New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) provides a unique opportunity for students with career goals in podiatry. The accelerated program typically allows for the completion of the BS/DPM degrees in a seven-year period. The BS/DPM program is for the academically outstanding student with strong, realistic motivation toward the podiatric profession. Initial study at the University of Hartford allows students to complete the general education and basic science requirements for the BS in health science degree and the prerequisites necessary for professional study. The BS degree is awarded by the University of Hartford following the successful completion of the first year of graduate study. Students who are not in the accelerated program typically complete the BS degree in four years at the University of Hartford. The podiatry program requires four years of combined academic and clinical training leading to the DPM degree, which is a prerequisite for licensure eligibility in the United States. The New York College of Podiatric Medicine provides students with an accredited four-year professional podiatry curriculum. Admission to the University of Hartford does not guarantee admission to the graduate program. You must complete an application for the graduate program after the second year of study at UHart. International Pathway Program Students should be advised that this is the Extended Plus 4-Semester Pathway option for this program. This pathway includes one or more semesters of Pre-Sessional English (dependent upon student proficiency level and progression in English courses) plus 3 semesters of Extended International Pathway. The International Pathway Program (IPP) is open to students who need to strengthen their English skills before studying a degree program in the USA. The IPP offers undergraduate students the additional support needed for their first year of university study. Students’ academic, social and personal success are ensured while in the program as they prepare to continue on to their degree. Each semester students will take a combination of Hartford academic courses (credited) and English courses (non-credit). Course options are dependent upon the required pathway. Once students have reached the required English level, they can progress to their program at the University of Hartford.
