Program Description The English Language Preparation program is a chance to improve your English language skills before beginning your pathway program. This program will you develop the required language skills to be successful in your intended pathway and degree program. 1-Semester Pathway and 2-Semester Pathway pre-sessional English are available. 1-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (5.0 in all subskills) and 2-Semester Pathway Pre-sessional English requires Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 Overall (minimum 4.5 in all sub-skills). This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre at the University of Sussex followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Sussex. In the Pre-Master's programme, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon the successful completion of the pathway program. The Pre-Masters in Business, Media and Social Sciences, provides a route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at the University of Sussex. English language and career skills are combined with subject-specific modules such as social sciences, cultural studies, a variety of business skills like accounting and business management to provide you with a strong foundation for your chosen business, media and social sciences degree. The Master of Arts in Media Practice for Development and Social Change is a unique course. You will critically analyse development, democratisation processes and social change alongside gaining creative and technical media production skills. You focus on media as tools for global social and political change. There is a a strong emphasis on the role of civil society and alternative media organisations. Social media, citizen journalism, activist media, participatory media and specialised broadcast media are successfully used to inform and engage audiences outside established channels of communication for issues such as: social inequality human rights gender issues environmental change.
