This two-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Technician program offers training in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of aircraft and aircraft components. Some of the duties include: Perform aviation safety and airworthiness inspections Troubleshoot and repair fixed wing aircraft and helicopters Safely perform ground handling and routine inspections Perform power plant and structural repairs Troubleshoot and repair aircraft systems and avionics ACCREDITATION This program is accredited by Transport Canada as meeting the basic training requirements for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s license categories “M1”, “M2” and “E”. Transport Canada also grants qualified graduates a 21-month experience credit towards the 48 months required and credit for having completed the required knowledge exams. After successful completion of this program and the required work experience, apprentices qualify to write an exam in Aircraft Maintenance Regulations to acquire an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s license. OUTCOMES Demonstrate safety practices in the aviation industry. Demonstrate skills and knowledge required to work in the aircraft maintenance field. Develop and strengthen the related knowledge and skill in subjects which complement and support the technical training.
