LaSalle College Vancouver's graduates have built careers in some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names. The animation and film industries are booming in Vancouver and beyond, with employers seeking those who deliver the perfect balance of technical and artistic ability. Through the Diploma program, students take their passion for animation and technical understanding to become a 3D-character artist. Building on a foundation of artistic training, students graduate from the program with a professional portfolio that showcases their accomplishments to the industry. In a creative and supportive environment, students work with industry-specific hardware and software to gain an enhanced understanding of the industry. Each three-month quarter of the program consists of tightly integrated, cohesive courses designed to provide the opportunity for students to accomplish specific, industry-driven competencies and outcomes. Graduates Learn Concepts from foundation level design courses: design principles and terminology, research, critical analysis, prototyping, art design and animation. Technical knowledge of design tools and software in accordance with current industry standards. Practical understanding and application of the principles of animation and platform-specific design. Professionalism through the process of conceptualizing, planning, executing, and delivering quality animation projects. Ability to work on team-based animation development projects. The 3D Modeling for Animation & Games diploma program is focused upon providing students with the opportunity to learn the fundamental artistic skills necessary to seek entry-level employment in Media Arts industries. Entry-level employment opportunities for graduating students may include 3D Modeller, Character Modeller, Environment Modeller, Texture Artist, Lighting Artist, Technical Artist, Junior Production Designer, Render Wrangler, and a host of related entry level production positions. NOTE: This program is not Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligible.
