Public health is the practice of preventing disease and promoting good health within groups of people in communities or countries. The BS program in Public Health educates students through courses that focus on the five pillars of the field: epidemiology, environmental health, health administration, biostatistics, and health promotion and education. The program provides students with the knowledge and skills that allow them to move into a range of entry-level employment opportunities within public health departments, agencies and organizations or to continue their education in graduate programs in public health or community health. While in the program, students undertake an internship that gives them practical experience in the public health workforce. The BS in Public Health pairs well with the health education specialist certificate, the health care policy and delivery certificate, and the hospice and palliative care certificate, each offered by the College of Health Solutions.
