Program Description DMU's collaborations with industry mean students benefit from specialised and advanced knowledge of the principles and techniques behind formulating and regulating pharmaceutical and cosmetic products. Developed by a pharmacy team, this degree course provides an understanding of the chemistry and engineering components of pharmaceutical and cosmetic product design and manufacture. DMU's research-active academics have experience in the fields of pharmacy, engineering, chemistry, pharmacology and microbiology. Their strong collaborations with the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries mean that this curriculum is continuously reviewed to ensure they are equipping their students with the advanced skills sought by graduate employers. On this course, students will cover compounding, formulation chemistry, pharmaceutical processes and technologies, microbiology, professional and quantitative science skills, cell biology and chemistry, pharmaceutical formulation, chemical analysis, quality and stability, cosmetic science and products, and pharmaceutical product development and manufacture. In year three students will also have the opportunity to choose their own elective modules. Key features 100% of our summer 2017 graduates from this course are in work or further study (Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education 2016-17) compared to a sector average of 94.6%.
