Explore Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of New Haven. Hands-on labs, research opportunities & support for international students. Apply now!
In biology, there are questions to be asked and problems to be solved. Through the Bachelor of Science - Biology program at the University of New Haven, graduates will learn to do both successfully, applying the theoretical knowledge they gain in the classroom in hands-on laboratory activities and engaging in field work right from the start. Students will study life in its most basic and its most complex forms as they explore and expand the framework that informs their understanding of the wonders of the natural world. Strengths of the program include: An emphasis on integrating theoretical knowledge with practical, career-focused work. Studying in state-of-the-art laboratories. Participation in active research projects designed for students and led by faculty. Exploring Connecticut’s rich biological systems, including the Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center at Milford Point and the Banca Marsh. Learning from faculty who are passionate scholars in their respective disciplines. The opportunity to study in different settings, including the Sound School in New Haven and the Gerace Tropical Research Station in the Bahamas. The opportunity to participate in the Lyme Disease Research Group. On-campus clubs and organizations, including the Beta Beta Beta National Biologic Honors Society, the Biology Club, and the Marine Conservation Society. This concentration gives the students the opportunity to focus on cellular and sub-cellular topics. It provides them with the basic knowledge and laboratory skills for entry level positions in biomedical and pharmaceutical laboratories, and companies using the techniques of cellular and molecular biology. It also prepares them for graduate programs in the areas of biology and the biomedical sciences. Those who complete the program are highly qualified to enter the workforce in biological research, health, or related life science fields.
