Program Description Athletic training is about helping others, especially when you love sports. CMU’s athletic training program, accredited by the Commission of Athletic Training Education, will teach you how to assess and treat sports-related injuries and how to use preventative measures to ensure athlete safety. Athletic training majors graduate prepared to work in a variety of health care settings and apply for the Board of Certification national exam. CMU’s athletic training program has provided more than 40 years of excellence in education and athletic training preparation. The program started as the first sports medicine major of its kind in the United States and was one of the first accredited athletic training majors in the country. CMU athletic training students in most years achieve a 100 percent first-time pass rate on the national certification test and secure jobs right out of college.
