Program Description Integrated Media Arts (IMA) is a cross-disciplinary major that reflects the engagement of new imaging technologies in contemporary art with a study of their cultural impact. Students will use digital technology as a sophisticated art-making tool within a broad, cross-disciplinary context. The opportunity for interdepartmental investigation and collaboration within the Hartford Art School and across the University, exploring new media with traditional art disciplines, is an underlying principle of this major. IMA is for the nontraditional art student who is excited by the prospect of moving between genres and disciplines, and working with others that reflects contemporary international art practice. UHart encourages students to participate in inter-collegiate collaborations, especially with The Hartt School’s Department of Composition and Department of Dance; the College of Engineering, Technology and Architecture; and the Cinema Department in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students should be advised that this is the Direct Admission option for this program and as such does not offer conditional admission.
