Program Description The Bachelor of Engineering - Electrical Engineering program acknowledges that theory is important, but so is the opportunity to put it into practice. Because Sheridan's electrical engineering degree is one of the few in Canada that embrace the CDIO Initiative (Conceive, Design, Implement and Operate), students will spend up to 50% of their class time working in labs. By using the systems students build, they will learn what it takes to imagine and develop user-friendly solutions. In the third and fourth years of the electrical engineering courses, students will have the opportunity to specialize in one of two technical streams — energy or mechatronics. Sheridan's energy stream prepares students for work in the electrical utility sector. In the mechatronics stream, they will gain the skills necessary to work in the fields of automation and instrumentation. This program features a four-month electrical engineering internship after the second year, plus the option for a co-op work term of up to 16 months following the third year. These experiences, combined with cross-disciplinary projects in each year of the studies, ready students to work as soon as they graduate. Sheridan College electrical engineering degree features cutting-edge curriculum and the latest technology. Students will work in small classroom environments with expert professors who hold PhDs, have P.Eng (professional engineering) designation and have years of industry experience.
