The Social Studies degree in education at CSP is an initial licensure program. Students aiming to be a social studies teacher for grades 5-12 may do so after graduation with additional requirements. Students will build important foundational teaching skills and gain a working knowledge of social studies topics. By completing this social studies degree and other state requirements, students will be eligible to apply for a Minnesota teaching license for social studies (5-12). The degree starts with general requirements that prepare future teachers to lead a classroom. Before transitioning into social studies-specific classes, you will complete six core areas: communication, social science, mathematics, science, humanities, and religion and theology.
