Program Description Nottingham Trent University' BA (Hons) Politics course is for students interested in how countries are governed, who has power, how decisions are made and want to better understand the role of the state and government in tackling challenging issues of the times, such as, climate change, gender equality, social media and political participation. Located in the heart of the city of Nottingham, with a backstory steeped in community and grassroots activism, this course offers students the opportunity to better understand the political world. Students will learn how political systems operate in the UK and beyond, exploring the contested nature of contemporary political issues and debates. Through experiential learning, students will be given the opportunity to put their knowledge and ideas into practice via real-time simulations and game playing which will help students to develop important negotiating and communication skills - alongside their knowledge of politics and critical thinking skills. Practising politics is at the heart of our BA (Hons) Politics course and students will benefit from Nottingham Trent University's connections with Nottingham Citizens and other partner organisations. Throughout the degree, students will integrate the analysis of political issues with data analysis, as well as placement and work-based opportunities, all of which will ensure that students are well prepared for their future career. There are many career paths students can take following graduation, including roles in the civil service, as researcher or data analyst for a national charity or political organisation, in business or marketing or even entering active politics as a local councillor or Westminster MP.
