The Dan School of Drama and Music emphasizes a balanced approach in which theory informs practice and practice informs theory. In Drama students can study all aspects of theatre, from acting and directing to theatre history and dramatic literature, and there are many different opportunities to become involved with the productions, which have been described as “intriguing work that meets a high level of accomplishment”. Some popular offerings include Music Theatre, Acting, Technical Production and summer courses in Medieval Theatre at Herstmonceux Castle in England. Top 4 Reasons to study Drama: Students can study all aspects of theatre from history to playwriting, literature to technical production, acting to administration. The program emphasizes a balanced approach in which theory informs practice, and practice informs theory. The program offers internship opportunities in which students work with a professional theatre company. There are 3 main locations –Theological Hall, one of Queen’s oldest buildings and often referred to as the most dramatic building on campus; a Castle in England or at the new, world-class Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts. Note: Students in this program are also eligible for the Queen’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP) which provides 2nd or 3rd year students with a 12-16 month work experience. The internship normally occurs following the student’s third year of study, after which the student completes the final year of the honours degree. The internships are paid, professionally supervised, career-related positions offering students the opportunity to learn about current advances, practices, and technologies in business and industry.
