Program Description Digital Marketing is something students cannot learn simply from textbooks. They need real, hands-on experience. The Digital Marketing degree course is designed just for this purpose. Right from the start, students will work on real, live digital projects, so they will develop the skills needed to excel in this fast-paced industry. From the first day of the digital marketing degree course, students will begin to learn the skills to develop from student to digital marketing expert. In the first year, students learn marketing fundamentals alongside practical application. Students will start to build their professional portfolio with real live digital projects. In Year 1, students will build and launch their own website. In the second year, students will build upon these skills and use more specialised digital marketing techniques. Students will open and explore the digital marketer’s toolkit, including social media, mobile, virtual and augmented reality. Students will discover the wealth of possibilities the digital marketing toolkit has for creating outstanding, successful campaigns. Students will work on live social media campaigns so they can see the results of their own planning and creativity in real time. Students will start to shape their career path by focusing on an aspect of digital marketing that inspires them and undertake a work placement that suits their personal interests and ambitions. You can take an optional year-long placement which really brings your course to life and will enhance your graduate employment prospects. You may even spend this year studying business and management abroad in Europe, North America, Asia or Australasia. In the final year, students will look at all the exciting developments in digital marketing technology that will impact upon the future of marketing. This includes mixed reality, understanding big data, and smart technologies. Students will continue to work on practical digital marketing projects to add to their professional portfolio. Projects students may showcase would include the apps, mobile websites or augmented reality tools that they have created. Students will carry out an original supervised research project into a subject they select and complete a module designed to maximise their individual professional success. Everything students study is done alongside the development of hands-on digital marketing skills. Students will be looking at solutions to digital marketing challenges for organisations from small companies and charities through to leading multinationals.
