Program Description A Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Game Design and Development is an undergraduate program that teaches the creative and technical skills for video game creation, covering game mechanics, 3D modeling, programming, storytelling, and asset creation. The curriculum blends design principles with hands-on development using industry-standard tools and includes group projects simulating a professional studio environment. Beyond recreational video games, the gaming world includes tabletop and live-action games for face-to-face engagement. Transformative games are applied in education, corporate training, healthcare, and informal learning settings like museums and libraries. Gamification techniques motivate real-world engagement through game-based layers. In the BA program, students will take courses from Laurier and Conestoga College at our Brantford campus. Over four years, they will gain skills in game design, mobile game development, motivation through gameful design, interactive storytelling, project management, and entrepreneurship. They'll learn to create various games—digital, tabletop, and live-action—that can entertain or effect change. Students will develop vital skills in creativity, writing, visual design, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They will master the integration of programming and art to craft functional prototypes, preparing to excel in the dynamic game industry with technical expertise and innovative vision.
