Wilfrid Laurier University's Film Studies program addresses the significant role that visual media play in contemporary experiences. This program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of: The history of film; The key methods of critical analysis and film theory; The relationship between film style and its social and industrial contexts; and The variety of film genres and national cinemas. Wilfrid Laurier University's program also provides students with opportunities for hands-on production. Students can graduate with a specialization in either Film Theory or Film Production as part of their degree. With three extensive introductory courses, students will have the option to enter the field of film studies in their first year. For upper-year students, the program offers courses on film genres, theory, film history, national cinemas, and other relevant topics.
