Program Description The English program at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University allows students to work toward a bachelor of arts with a major in English and a minor in another subject area. Memorial University offers education in English literature and creative writing within the framework of a liberal arts degree program. Grenfell's English program includes key courses that give each student a strong understanding of the essential aspects of English literature. The courses also focus on specific areas of English studies, including: Canadian literature Dramatic literature Modern literature Creative writing The English program at Grenfell expands each student's creativity, imagination, and critical thinking. There is a particular focus on creative writing and instructors expose each student to different worldviews through literature, allowing them to analyze culture, world events, and their own daily encounters in a new way. This program enables students to: Explore both classic and modern literature, from medieval epics to contemporary graphic novels. Better understand the social and cultural conditions of people throughout history. Grasp the changing views and attitudes related to concepts like beauty and truth. Understand the joys and sorrows of others, and make sense of the events that shape us. Learn ways to engage with the world around them and appreciate the diversity of cultural work done by writers in Canada and around the world. Gain solid communication and critical thinking skills. Please note : Memorial University of Newfounland will have an increase in their tuition prices starting Fall 2022. Cost of tuition will be $20,000 per year, for all new Students starting in Fall 2022 and later. The current prices are valid only for the January 2022 and May 2022 Intakes. 22 Intakes.
