A liberal-arts degree program that focuses on the history of art and design as part of a broad program of general studies. This degree program should enable students to place visual-cultural objects, including works of art and design, within a historical context, and to speak and write clearly and meaningfully about art and design and about the relationship of visual-cultural artifacts to the social environments in which they were made.
