Join the Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering at Acadia University! Gain hands-on experience and prepare for a successful engineering career. Apply now!
In this program, students will use science to solve real-world problems. These can include finding ways to protect the natural environment and creating the things in the built environment, from factories to skyscrapers to spacecraft. Students will study pure sciences such as physics, math, and chemistry, as well as dedicated engineering courses. They will focus on practical ways to apply the knowledge gained along the way by creating models and prototypes. Engineering is all about creating new things and solving real problems. It is a huge field. Engineering blends topics from almost all branches of science with the formal study of design and economic analysis. Practitioners revel in the feeling of accomplishment that results from seeing their designs come to life. This often occurs only after extensive analysis, testing and de-bugging on the part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Acadia offers two programs with four options: Certificate of Applied Science (CAS), 23 courses in 2 years Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc), 30 courses in 3 years CAS & BASc, 30 courses in 3 years CAS & BSc (biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics), 4 years Students will take the first half of the program at Acadia. The second half (23 courses) is usually at Dalhousie, which offers six engineering disciplines: Chemical Civil Environmental Electrical Industrial Mechanical. The engineering curriculum uses the principles of math and science to solve everyday problems and create new structures, processes and systems.
