Catalog description
Become a childhood educator with our AEC in Early Childhood Education in Montreal. International students welcome! Start your journey today!
Program Description A childhood educator works with children between 0 and 12 years of age. The Attestation of Collegial Studies program prepares future educators so they can fulfill the following tasks and responsibilities: Address the basic needs of children. Childhood educators must ensure the safety of the children in their care, evaluate their needs (hygiene, comfort, sleep, diet), give them the appropriate care and assess the pertinence of interventions. Address the children’s psychological and educational needs. Childhood educators must establish significant relationships with the children in their care. They must maintain an atmosphere conducive to the evolution of the child or children through their interventions dealing with individual and collective behaviour. Educators must create a life environment conducive to the children’s psychomotor, cognitive, language, social, affective, and moral development. Work in partnership with different individuals. Childhood educators must work in close cooperation with parents and other community partners to achieve consensus as to the necessary interventions with children. A good knowledge of the educational daycare service network and other related networks and the ability to take into consideration the family and social realities encountered allow educators to adjust their interventions and understand their full scope. Participate actively and regularly in daily activities and team meetings with their colleagues. Design and revise the educational program, combining flexibility and thoroughness, in their quest for educational coherence.
