Program Description Students can develop prevention, intervention and treatment strategies to facilitate a positive change in children, youth and their families who experience a range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges. Program Highlights: Mohawk College secures diverse field placement opportunities for students in a variety of agencies and provides one-on-one field placement support. Over 1,000 hours of practical field placement experiences. Mohawk College’s Child and Youth Care Program has earned national accreditation by the Child and Youth Care Educational Accreditation Board of Canada (CYCEAB). Learning outcomes: Specialize in supporting change with children, youth and their families experiencing a range of social, emotional and behavioural challenges. Implement a range of prevention, intervention and treatment strategies for children, youth and their families, including crisis intervention, conflict management, problem solving, counselling, activity programming and group work. How to work with client challenges including difficult home situations, substance abuse, behavioural problems and conflicts with the law. Advocate for the rights of children and youth.
