The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a well-rounded first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It complements immersive English-taught classes with the appropriate level of support. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program can expect: Tailored support for academic and English language needs Completion of a full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically designed for international students Assistance with English vocabulary relevant to their coursework A diverse mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The curriculum for plant and soil systems integrates key concepts from agronomy, entomology, horticulture, plant pathology, and crop physiology. Students in this program will take foundational courses that lay the groundwork for specialization in one of nine concentration areas: Agricultural Pest Management - Entomology Agricultural Pest Management - Plant Pathology Crop Science Horticultural Sciences Soil Science Sustainable Production Systems Turf and Landscape Management Urban Entomology The agricultural pest management concentration is an interdisciplinary program that encompasses weed science, plant pathology, and entomology. Effective pest management in agriculture necessitates a comprehensive understanding of pest disciplines and practical field experience. This concentration includes a robust core curriculum in pest management disciplines, a solid foundation in agriculture, life and physical sciences, and hands-on training through internships. Furthermore, a variety of elective courses, both restricted and non-restricted, allow students to customize their degree program for careers in agricultural industries such as chemical, seed, or biotechnology companies; state and federal research, extension, and regulatory agencies; private agricultural consulting firms; farmer cooperatives; nurseries, home, and garden centers; golf courses; greenhouse plant production; corporate farms; urban pest control; public health insect management; and forensic entomology.
