It complements immersive classes taught in English with the appropriate level of support. Students in the Academic Accelerator receive: Tailored support for academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students Assistance with English vocabulary necessary for classes A mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The Bachelor of Science in Geology program curriculum prepares undergraduates for graduate study in geology and geophysics, as well as various professional careers such as teaching, research, resource exploration and development, and environmental management and remediation. The undergraduate curriculum offers three concentrations: Geology Environmental geology Geophysics The geophysics concentration places additional emphasis on mathematics and physics. The focus for all concentrations is on fundamental geologic processes occurring on and within the Earth. Laboratory and field studies are integrated into the curriculum at all levels, including a six-week field geology course at the department’s permanent field camp in the Colorado Front Range. The curriculum is designed to allow flexibility in the final three semesters of study so that students, with department guidance and approval, can create a program of advanced coursework tailored to their concentration and career goals. Students in the environmental geology concentration take physical hydrogeology. All three concentrations aim to provide students with a solid foundation in basic geology and prepare them for entry into a graduate program or a professional career.
