The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a well-rounded first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It complements immersive English-taught classes with the necessary support. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator will benefit from: Tailored academic and English language assistance Completion of a full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically tailored for international students English language support for key vocabulary needed in classes A diverse mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The Bachelor of Science in Geology program curriculum is structured to prepare undergraduates for further studies in geology and geophysics, as well as various professional careers such as teaching, research, resource exploration, and environmental management. The undergraduate curriculum offers three concentrations: Geology Environmental geology Geophysics Students in the Geology and Environmental Geology concentrations follow a common curriculum for the first five semesters, focusing on mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, and sedimentology, along with foundational courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. The emphasis is on fundamental geological processes, with laboratory and field studies integrated at all levels, including a six-week field geology course at the department’s field camp in the Colorado Front Range. The curriculum allows flexibility in the final three semesters, enabling students to tailor their advanced coursework based on their concentration and career goals with department guidance. Students in the environmental geology concentration study physical hydrogeology. All three concentrations aim to provide students with a solid foundation in geology and prepare them for graduate studies or a professional career.
