The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support. Students in the Academic Accelerator receive: The right amount of support for their academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students English-language help with words needed for classes A mix of classes with international and U.S. students The Louisiana State University Department of Geography and Anthropology is a national leader in education and research. From climate change to forensics, students enrolled in the G&A program study a wide range of topics, obtain a unique set of technical skills, and become globally competitive job seekers upon graduation. Students majoring in geography may earn either the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Those interested in mapping sciences or physical geography typically enter the B.S. program, while those interested in human geography enter the B.A. program. The geography undergraduate degree program offers a Geographic Information Science concentration (GIS), providing students with training in critical GIS skills for acquiring, managing, analyzing, and presenting spatial data. This prepares them for an expanding GIS job market in the public, not-for-profit, or private sectors.
