The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with strong English-language skills. It provides additional support to immersive classes taught in English. Students in the Academic Accelerator receive: Adequate support for academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically for international students Assistance with English vocabulary needed for classes A mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The Louisiana State University Computer Science undergraduate program, offered through the College of Engineering, offers a curriculum that allows students to explore core and applied areas of computer science. Students have opportunities for research, summer internships, and co-ops. The program offers flexibility through four concentrations: Software Engineering (SE) Concentration Cloud Computing and Networking (CCN) Concentration Data Science and Analytics (DSA) Concentration Computer Science and Second Discipline Concentration Upon graduation, students will demonstrate: Application of computing and mathematical knowledge Problem analysis and solution identification Design, implementation, and evaluation of computer-based systems Effective teamwork Understanding of professional, ethical, legal, security, and social issues Effective communication with diverse audiences Analysis of local and global computing impacts Commitment to continuing professional development Utilization of current computing techniques, skills, and tools Application of mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in system design Design and development principles in software system construction The Computer Science and Second Discipline concentration allows for a 15-hour study area outside of computer science, enabling students to pursue dual majors with overlapping curricula.
