Catalog description
Join the Academic Accelerator for a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at LSU. Tailored support for international students. Apply now!
The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It complements immersive classes taught in English with the appropriate level of support. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator will benefit from: Tailored support for academic and English-speaking requirements A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically for international students Assistance with English vocabulary essential for coursework A diverse range of classes with both international and U.S. students A Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (BS in ChE) from Louisiana State University offers the opportunity to apply fundamental principles of chemical engineering, such as thermodynamics, fluid flow, and heat transfer, to the design, installation, and operation of processes for efficient material production. Basic coursework in mathematics, chemistry, physics, and chemical engineering is mandatory. Students can choose to focus on a formal concentration in Biomolecular, Environmental, or Materials studies through elective courses. Alternatively, they may pursue a ChE degree without a specific concentration. The curriculum also includes a significant number of arts, humanities, and social sciences electives to fulfill the university’s general education and external accreditation requirements. This well-rounded education prepares students for both technical careers and civic responsibilities. The undergraduate program emphasizes the use of computers, an essential tool in the engineering field. Chemical engineers are among the highest-earning graduates in the engineering sector nationwide. With a projected shortage of chemical engineers in the industry, job prospects and salaries are expected to remain favorable in the coming years.
