The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with strong English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with appropriate support. As a student in the Academic Accelerator, individuals will receive: The necessary support for academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students Assistance with English-language vocabulary essential for classes A mix of classes with both international and U.S. students Louisiana’s animal industry is a valuable sector that contributes millions of dollars to the state economy annually, offering numerous opportunities for recreation, food, and more. This industry has undergone significant evolution in recent years, with technology playing a larger role in animal production and a growing awareness of animal welfare and environmental impact. The Louisiana State University’s School of Animal Sciences is dedicated to addressing the challenges of today’s industry through research, outreach, and teaching efforts. The School of Animal Sciences offers Bachelor of Science Degrees in six areas of concentration, providing students with a comprehensive educational background tailored to their individual needs and strengths: Animal Science Dairy Foods Technology Dairy Production Poultry Science Pre-Veterinary Medicine Science and Technology Graduates of the animal sciences curriculum have a wide range of career opportunities in various production enterprises and animal-related agribusinesses, including commercial livestock, dairy, and poultry enterprises, feed and pharmaceutical companies, commodity processing and food product industries, and state and federal agencies. Students who choose science-directed electives are well-prepared for graduate school. Undergraduate students meeting qualifications can participate in the Summer Internship Program, which offers well-paid stipends and integrates academic and work experiences for a comprehensive educational preparation for industry roles post-graduation.
