Catalog description
Pursue your passion for music with a Bachelor of Music Performance at Auburn University. Join our vibrant community and apply today!
The Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree is designed for talented students who wish to one day seek music-related employment and/or pursue graduate studies in music upon completion of the undergraduate program. A performance program can be exciting and rewarding, most especially for students that share a passion for music and the arts with Auburn University faculty. The challenges of such a program appeal to students that have achieved a high level of musical ability while in high school. Such students may take private lessons, may have participated in All-State bands and orchestras, perhaps have had the lead in the school musical, sung in festival choirs, or performed, composed and recorded with their own ensembles. The Bachelor of Music Performance (Instrumental, Voice, or Piano) is intended for undergraduate students who wish to prepare for careers as performers of music in which extended study of applied music is required. An audition is required. The degree focuses on an in-depth study of music performance, the technical mechanics of music, music in historical perspective, pedagogical techniques and literature appropriate to their area. Students learn collaborative interaction, study music of a variety of cultures and genres, develop the ability to communicate as music pedagogues and performers, and achieve an extraordinarily high standard of performance and technical skill.
