The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It provides additional support to complement immersive classes taught in English. As a student in the Academic Accelerator, individuals will receive: Appropriate support for academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students English-language assistance for class-related vocabulary A mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The LSU College of Music and Dramatic Arts is a performing arts community that nurtures and rewards exceptional artists, educators, scholars, and performers. The program fosters a passion for the arts, collaboration, and the creation of new works while engaging with the community to enhance communication through expressive power and purpose. The Music Education Program at the LSU School of Music is highly esteemed nationwide. With a distinguished faculty of music education specialists, performing musicians, conductors, music theorists, and historians, along with a strong liberal arts component, the program offers a high-quality education for undergraduate and graduate students. Known for its field-based curriculum, successful graduates, and faculty research expertise, the music education program at LSU combines practical needs with innovative teaching methods. The program emphasizes the synergy between research and practice to prepare students for the challenges of music teaching. The Bachelor of Music Education program offers concentrations in vocal and instrumental education, preparing students for successful teaching careers in elementary and secondary schools. Emphasizing the importance of quality musicianship, students work closely with master performers and participate in major ensembles to develop their musical artistry. Courses in music theory, history, conducting, jazz, piano, and technology complement the musical training, providing a solid foundation for professional education coursework in teaching and psychology. Through collaborations with schools in the Baton Rouge area, students gain valuable experiences to inform their career choices.
