Each concentration requires coursework in art history. Students in these programs learn to work independently and collaboratively, developing a vocabulary for critiquing and discussing their own work and that of their peers. They become critical thinkers, creative problem solvers, and well-rounded communicators. Through coursework in studio art, design disciplines, art history, contemporary art theory, and liberal arts and sciences, students acquire the skills and understanding needed to make their art and design practices relevant to historical and contemporary issues. With a strong foundation in artistic, technical, and conceptual skills, students can pursue further study in graduate school or begin careers as independent studio artists or professional practitioners in various fields. The Sculpture concentration within the BFA Studio Art program offers a comprehensive education in 3D arts, promoting cross-disciplinary exploration and collaboration. Facilities for sculpture students include a woodworking shop, welding and fabrication areas, and a foundry for casting bronze, aluminum, and iron. Graduates of the program have a history of success in exhibitions and professional achievements.
