The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It provides additional support to complement English-taught classes and ensure academic success. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program can expect: Tailored support for academic and English language needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically for international students Assistance with essential English vocabulary for coursework A diverse mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The LSU School of Art offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art with specializations in ceramics, painting & drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Each specialization includes coursework in art history. Students in these programs develop independent and collaborative work skills, as well as the ability to analyze and discuss art effectively. They are trained to think critically, solve problems creatively, and communicate effectively. By studying studio art, design, art history, and contemporary art theory, students gain the skills and knowledge needed to make their art relevant to current issues. With a strong foundation in artistic, technical, and conceptual skills, students can pursue advanced studies in graduate school or pursue careers as studio artists or professionals in various design fields. The Photography concentration within the BFA Studio Art program focuses on creating impactful images and exploring the cultural significance of photography. Students develop a visual philosophy and utilize photography as a means of expression, blending traditional and modern techniques with contemporary art concerns. Through coursework and independent study, students explore a range of photographic processes in darkrooms and studios, including black-and-white, color, large-format, digital photography, and more.
