The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a well-rounded first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It complements immersive English-taught classes with appropriate support. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program can expect: Tailored support for academic and English language needs Completion of a full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically designed for international students Assistance with English language vocabulary essential for coursework A blend of classes with both international and U.S. students The LSU School of Art offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art with specializations in ceramics, painting & drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Each specialization includes art history courses. Students in these programs develop the skills to work independently and collaboratively, building a vocabulary for critiquing and discussing artwork. They cultivate critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication skills. By studying studio art, design, art history, and contemporary art theory, as well as liberal arts and sciences, students gain the necessary skills and understanding to make their artistic practices relevant to current issues. With a strong foundation in artistic, technical, and conceptual knowledge, students can pursue advanced studies in graduate school or embark on careers as independent studio artists or professionals in various fields such as film, video, computer graphics, game design, web design, typography, print design, and environmental design. Students are prepared to creatively address issues of value and meaning in their work and lives. The Painting and Drawing concentration within the BFA Studio Art program offers an intellectually stimulating and creative environment that combines traditional conventions with contemporary forms and issues. It covers a wide range of artistic experiences, from figure and landscape painting to abstract painting, water media, and performance and installation art. The faculty members bring diverse approaches and expertise to the program, all sharing a dedication to the power and universality of visual images in communicating ideas across cultures.
