The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with strong English-language skills. It provides additional support to immersive classes taught in English. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program will receive: Appropriate support for their academic and English-speaking requirements A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically designed for international students Assistance with English-language terms necessary for their classes A mixture of classes with both international and U.S. students The LSU School of Art offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art with concentrations in ceramics, painting & drawing, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Each concentration includes courses in art history. Students in these programs learn to work independently and collaboratively, developing a vocabulary for critiquing and discussing their own work and that of their peers. They cultivate skills in critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and effective communication. Through coursework in studio art, design, art history, and contemporary art theory, as well as liberal arts and sciences, students acquire the skills and understanding needed to make their art and design practices relevant to current issues. With a strong foundation in artistic, technical, and conceptual aspects, students are prepared to pursue advanced studies in graduate school or embark on careers as independent studio artists or professionals in various fields such as film, video, computer graphics, game design, web design, typography, print design, editorial design, information design, digital imaging, packaging, environmental design, identity design, and branding. They are equipped to creatively address issues of value and meaning in their work and lives. The Graphic Design concentration within the BFA program trains students to become visual communicators, critical thinkers, and creative problem solvers through diverse experiences in typography, print design, editorial design, information design, digital imaging, packaging, environmental design, identity design, and branding.
