Since 1995, FMA’s goal has been to merge curricula from various disciplines in theories, histories, and practices. With curricula, faculty, and students from diverse disciplines, the Program is now in its 23rd year of offering a comprehensive approach to studying film and media arts. FMA provides a range of subjects for students, including cinema history, national and international cinemas, film genres, film and media theory, video art, screenwriting, media in popular culture, visual communication rhetoric and aesthetics, and digital video production. By combining filmmaking practice with scholarly study of its history, aesthetics, and culture, FMA has led in developing curricula and facilities to enhance visual and media literacy. Aligned with its mission and values, the Program strives to support the University’s goals in pursuing undergraduate learning and research in all aspects of the film, video, and digital media realms.
