The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with strong English-language skills. It complements immersive classes taught in English with the appropriate level of support. As a student in the Academic Accelerator, individuals will receive: The necessary support for academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively designed for international students Assistance with English-language terms essential for classes A mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The LSU Department of Political Science offers a diverse range of courses for undergraduate students in an environment where professors are genuinely dedicated to undergraduate education. It is a comprehensive political science department covering American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, and Political Theory. The faculty members frequently receive teaching awards at the college and university level, and the department consistently ranks among the top two or three in the College of Arts and Sciences in terms of the number of majors. Students have the option to choose from various areas of concentration, including: American Government and Politics Comparative Government and Politics International Politics and Law Political Theory Political Analysis Campaigns and Elections Law and Legal Systems Public Policy Race and Politics Upon completion of their studies, students will be able to: Equip LSU students with the knowledge and analytical skills needed to be responsible citizens who contribute to the well-being of the state and the nation Contribute to a deeper understanding of politics and government through faculty research and publications Serve as a source of expertise for national, state, and local government Provide political science majors with the education necessary to pursue successful careers in government, academia, and the private sector Offer graduate training for PhD and MA students in political science that incorporates state-of-the-art substantive and methodological instruction in all specialization areas, and produce graduate students with exceptional research, teaching, and professional skills.
